Today’s issue was inspired by the leg injury I’ve managed to sustain in the midst of training for a full marathon mid-year.

It’s obviously not ideal, but timing-wise it’s been a particularly intense week of work and other commitments, so I’ve appreciated having back the 6+ hours per week I usually spend running. That being said, I’m excited to be able to don my runners again (hopefully) next week.

The Deep Dive: Coping when things don't go to plan 🌪️➡️🌈

I used to believe in the maxim "everything happens for a reason." 🤔

When things in life went wrong, I would say it to myself with a resigned sigh and try to move forwards.

But over the years, I've realised there are two fundamental problems with relying on that phrase as a method of coping with life's curveballs and sh*tstorms:

1. It's easy to feel angry at “everything happens for a reason”. Grief, loss, trauma and injustice are so impactful on life that brushing them off as "happening for a reason" is neither comforting nor empowering.
